Knauer Brothers and Ethan Winograd Jazz Rock Show

Event Complete

North Carolina based guitarist Ethan Winograd returns to Pittsburgh for a hometown show at Sprezzatura. Show cost is $10 at the door, BYOB is encouraged with a $5 corkage fee, and an Italian buffet is an additional $20 (corkage waived if purchased).

Ethan is promoting his new single, “Michelle Obama,” which was recorded at Electric Eye Recorders in Polish Hill. He will be joined by Knauer Brothers drummer, Isaac Winograd as well as longtime partner in musical crime, bassist Justin Brown. Justin and Ethan were members of the Pittsburgh jazz band Charles Wallace, which operated from 2008 until 2015 and released a full length album, Mariposa, in 2013.

Pittsburgh based six piece rock band The Knauer Brothers play original songs by singer/songwriters Melissa Knauer, Buck Knauer and Evan Knauer, plus covers of Neil Young and YES songs. Bass player Jay Knauer, drummer Isaac Winograd and trumpeter “Uptowne” Steve Browne also sing. Their sound is heavy on guitars with many vocal harmonies. Many songs are from past histories with other bands: Melissa as lead singer of The Fuzzy Comets + Raised by Wolves, Buck as lead guitarist for Cousin It + Liverball, and Evan goes back to the 1980’s with The Shunts, ATS and The Crow Flies. Though the Knauer’s have no releases of their own, CD’s of their other bands will be available at the Sprezzatura show.
